Tonghua Street Night Market / Linjiang Street Night Market
Tonghua Street Night Market, also known as Linjiang Street Night Market, is considered one of the top night markets in Taipei city (along with Shilin, Raohe, Ningxia, Huaxi, and Nanjichang).
Located in central Taipei, Tonghua Street Night Market is one of the busiest street markets in Taipei. The market featuers not only local foods but dozens of exotic delicacies, including inexpensive Malaysian, Japanese and Taiwanese snacks. Having more than 100 vendors, Tonghua Street Night Market offers all kinds of products besides food such as clothes, shoes, accessories and other knickknacks.
Raohe Street Night Market
The Raohe Street Night Market covers various kinds of booths for general merchandises, accessories and yummy snacks, all at low and affordable prices. By looking at the booths with queues of people, it is not hard to find out the most popular snacks. You absolutely don't want to miss snacks like: Stew Ribs in Chinese herbal Medicine, Crispy Pepper Pastry Cake, Steamed Bun, Oyster Noodles, and all kinds of cold drinks. Taipei 101
Once known as the tallest building in the entire world, Taipei 101 is a relatively new building to the world’s massive skyscraper scene, and features a postmodernist look and feel to it. The building was constructed in such a way that it brings the best of classic Asian design with modern Western influences. This building is home to 101 above ground floors that host offices, restaurants, business centers, observatories, and more.
Yongkang Shopping District
Tucked away between the districts of Daan and Ximen, behind Dongmen station. In 2022, TimeOut officially named Yongkang Street the 4th coolest street in the world, making it the number one coolest in Asia. Lined with award-winning restaurants such as Yongkang Beef noodle and Din Tai Fung, specialty coffee shops, cute bakeries and trendy boutiques. You can wander along Yongkang Street for hours and explore the surrounding lanes.
Taipei Eastern Business Circle
Taipei Eastern Business District is one of the most prosperous shopping and entertainment districts in Taipei, located around the Zhongxiao Dunhua and Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT stations. Elephant Mountain and the Four Beasts Trail
Elephant Mountain (Xiangshan) is a mountain in eastern Taipei City. The relatively short trail up the 184-meter mountain provides unbeatable city views, making it Taipei’s most famous hike and one of Taiwan’s most well-known attractions.
The Elephant Mountain trailhead is a mere 0.85 km (0.5 mi) from Taipei 101. This means you can hop directly from the country’s most famous landmark and ritziest neighborhood to a natural.
Taipei Dome
Taipei Dome also known officially as Farglory Dome.
Taipei Dome is not only a world-class standard indoor baseball stadium, but also a venue for various international-level cultural and artistic performances. Other large-scale activities including professional or consumer exhibitions, large-scale product launches, speeches, corporate activities, etc. can all be accommodated here.
Taipei Arena
The Taipei Arena, formerly known as the Taipei Municipal Baseball Stadium, is located in the Songshan District at the intersection of Dunhua North Rd. and Nanjing East Road.
Taipei Arena is an important indoor facility within the city of Taipei's overall exercise facility construction plan. The building is divided into the main hall and subsidiary arena. The main hall is comprised of 2 underground levels and 5 reinforced concrete levels above ground, covering an area of approximately 90,900 square meters. The interior floor of the main hall is 76m long and 41.5m wide and about 60m X 29.5m when all retractable seats are fully extended. When needed, the center floor can be completely frozen and become a standard indoor arena for sports or other events held on ice. The arena can be used for a variety of purposes based on need. Because of this, the arena was able to host top of the line racing competitions held by SportAccord (International Sports Federations) and is also in hot demand by both domestic and international arts groups who compete to rent it out for a variety of shows.
Maokong
Maokong is an area located in Wenshan District of Taipei, Taiwan. The area used to be the biggest tea growing area of Taipei. There are many intertwining footpaths which have been used to transport tea. Now, it is a popular place for tea culture and viewing the night scenery of Taipei City.
Maokong still produces some tea, most notably tieguanyin tea. The Taipei Tea Research and Promotion Center is in Maokong. Many restaurants in the area offer both tea and food. A combination of traditional tea culture, food, and scenery are the main reasons the area has become a popular tourist destination.
Maokong Gondola
With a total length of 4.03 kilometers, the Maokong Gondola is the first gondola system in Taipei City. One-way travel time on the gondola is about 20 to 30 minutes. The gondola ride includes four stops, namely the Taipei Zoo Station, Taipei Zoo South Station, Zhinan Temple Station, and the Maokong Station. It is very easy to ride the Maokong Gondola; after getting off the last stop of the Metro's Wenhu Line—Taipei Zoo Station—walk to the Maokong Gondola's Taipei Zoo Station to take the gondola.
The three most beautiful times to take the gondola are in the midst after rain, when the sun is setting, and when the lights of the city are shining at night. As the gondola passes over the undulating terrain, you can glimpse moving Metro trains, the park along the Jingmei River, and the "giraffe" incinerator. When you reach the second stop, the gondola takes a big turn, and you will get a panoramic view of the landscape, including vehicles moving along the freeway below. After passing the Zhinan Temple Station, you will enter a steep V-shaped gully; this is the climax of the gondola ride, and is an unforgettable experience.
The final stop is at Maokong, where numerous tea plantations and tea shops are located. Many visitors specially make the trip here to have tea and chat. Make sure to visit a tea shop and order the famous “Muzha Tieguanyin” or “Wenshan Pouchong tea” when you visit Maokong. The trip will be worth your while when you taste the delicious specialty tea and meal combo, and view the stunning scenery of Taipei Basin.
Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall
The building of National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is 30.4 meters high, 100 meters long, and 100 meters wide. The 50 terrazzo columns on the surrounding corridors support the yellow-tiled rooftop with upturned corners resembling a soaring eagle. The building quietly situated in the center of an area of 100,000 square meter is surrounded by the gardens, flowers, plants, and plaza. The contrast between the building and the environment is spectacular. The majestic building looks bold, strong, and simple without losing the exquisite details.
As a whole, National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is grand, elegant, concise, bright, and powerful. People will not only admire it but also feel the combination of strength and beauty. Next year the hall is scheduled to be closed for the “Auditorium and Surrounding Facilities Upgrade Project.”
Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall
The Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is a national monument and tourist attraction erected in memory of Chiang Kai-shek, former President of the Republic of China. It is located in Taipei, Taiwan.
The monument, surrounded by a park, stands at the east end of Memorial Hall Square. It is flanked on the north and south by the National Theater and National Concert Hall.
Beitou Hot Springs
Beitou Hot Springs region refers to an area covering the Hell Valley, Longfeng, Fenghuang, Hushan Village and Xingyi Road. In a narrow sense, the region mainly refers to an area consisting of Zhongshan Road, Guangming Road, Xinmin Road and Quanyuan Road surrounding the Beitou Park. The hot springs hotels in this area are larger both in scale and number, and the natural and humanities resources are also the most plentiful here.
Yangmingshan National Park
Yangmingshan National Park is located in the north of Beitou. Yangmingshan was called Caoshan (Grass Mountain) during Japanese occupation of Taiwan, because it was covered with grass and seldom visited. After World War II, the KMT government renamed the mountain Yangmingshan and built a park here. Yangmingshan National Park is the only park in Taiwan that has volcanic geography and hot springs. It is next to Shamao Mountain and Qixing Mountain with Datun Mountain on the right and Guanyin Mountain in front. The magnificent mountainous scenery and comfortable weather have made Yangmingshan National Park a perfect summer resort. Total area of the park is 11,338 hectares.
